A lifetime ago, two egrets were captured in the relief carved into a wall. They were held there, imprisoned with lotuses, only able to gaze at each other as a door held them apart. Then, one day, a mysterious zephyr flowed through the doorway, the lotuses burst forth from the wood to spill out into the real world, filling the air with the scent of their lush green leaves and the soft perfume of their blooms. The egrets gained their freedom and were finally reunited.
