A former employer presented me with a commission to mark an exciting and momentous advancement in his career. He asked me to create a work which would represent his determination to succeed in the new challenges and opportunities he’d faced with this new position. Over several discussions, he selected the theme of a sun rising over a distant horizon. The rising sun, climbing high and illuminating the world, was his willingness to face this challenge and go forward, no matter the difficulties, to reach his goals. During the process I produced a miniature work to ensure his complete satisfaction with the final product.
