Human lives are like a blink to the eye of time. Fossils that are millions of years old sleep beneath our modern world, where our lives are ephemeral and our time upon the planet can be measured in decades. Yet, we live as best we can, with joy, sadness, and anger. The rich diversity of life, the layers within the earth that mark the passage of aeons past, it brings to my mind the spiral and many chambers of an ammonite.
