Spring graces the Meguro River in a flourish of cherry blossoms. The water drifts under a canopy of graceful, bloom-laden branches, reflecting their beauty upon its serene, azure face. As a breeze stirs, petals dance a ballet in the sunlight before falling to form dainty rafts upon the water, flowing along at the beck of the wind and current. In that delicate moment, a bird flew low, nearly stirring the river’s surface, and I felt as if it had come to show me how to fly – just when I was still learning what it meant to lift off the ground.
