I came across two large cherry trees in an open space of the Kiyoharu Art Village in Yamanashi prefecture. It was late spring and the trees were in full bloom, so of course I wanted a closer look – especially given how perfect this tree was. So as I drew near to admire it, I was struck by the realization that I wasn’t looking at a single tree, but two growing very close to each other. Moreover, each of those trees by themselves had bare spots that spoiled their form- but together, they were perfect. It made me think about love bringing a couple together, forming something perfect and complete from two flawed parts.
